Pile up on US131

On March 8, 2005, a sudden snow squall created a white-out condition and "black ice" on US131 just south of the Post Road exit.   Over 90 vehicles were involved in this massive pileup. Plainfield Fire Department Emergency Response teams were the first on the scene to extricate and rescue those caught up in this incident.  Eventually, emergency personnel from 6 other fire departments, plus the Kent County Sheriff, State and local police departments were involved in this massive rescue effort.
