Each spring, the Plainfield
Township Fire Department hosts a certified 5-K run/walk- “RUN A MILE FOR
A CHILD”- and a pancake breakfast at Station #1 on Belmont
Avenue. All proceeds from
this event go to benefit the Spectrum Health Regional Burn
Center, including
"Kid's Burn Camp" and
West Michigan FIREmatch- an intervention, referral and
educational program for children. This year, it was a grey, damp day, but those conditions did not deter two
hundred plus runners, walkers, and their supporters from turning out
for this year's race. Plainfield Fire Department volunteers
cooked up a mess of pancakes and a great time was had by all. But
most important was the financial support we were able to send to
Spectrum Health's Regional Burn unit. Many thanks go to the
tireless organizers, volunteers, and, of course, those that
