Each year, the Plainfield Fire department holds their "Camp 9-1-1"
for township residents.
This program is designed to educate children in the fundamentals of
Fire Safety, and have a lot of fun and competition too.
This year, campers got a chance to practice a rescue procedure
called "follow the hose". When a firefighter enters a
structure to look for victims they will often take a hose with them.
This way, they can always follow the hose back to safety. Campers
also were trained in the proper use of a Fire Extinguisher, and what
to do if they are trapped in a bedroom by a fire. Of course, they
also got to brush up on their skills with the ever popular Fire
Hoses! As you can see, the children, and the instructors, had a
